this project started as a collaborative effort to kickstart the initiative and ended, as initially planned, with my own interpretation of the redesign. this particular non-profit was the perfect candidate due to the original website not being user friendly, disorganized, and outdated.
after the general idea for the website was brainstormed, card sorting exercises were done to make sure which pages to keep, consolidate and prioritize going forward. next was creating the site map to see everything from a birds eye view. afterwards, digital wireframes were created which helped reign in the page's information architecture. the new site needed to be much easier to navigate and to understand, while also putting a focus on being able to donate (since they rely on donations). the decision to place a cta in the header establishes an immediate visual hierarchy with the drop shadow behind it making it more visually engaging while providing visual cues that help guide the user to the end goal.
the website exists for informative purposes for users but also to draw attention to another purpose, donations. i chose to go off of the existing color palette from the logo to make everything more uniform and cohesive. below are before and after photos of this website's facelift as well as a video of the walkthrough. a video walkthrough is available on the vimeo link provided as well as below.
